Overview
The PF selection process has an extremely low pass rate with most candidates failing due to physical limitations or injuries resulting from inadequate training. Overtraining is a common cause of injury, leading to failure in physical capability. If you are serious about increasing your chance of success on selection, then the standards in which you conduct your physical development should always remain high. “That will do, will never do”.
The Spectre Performance PF programme remains unique in that we have focused on the key areas where most people commonly fall short. Implementing aspects such as our own screening process and applying the “1%ers” into our programme allows us to capture any weaknesses that you may have and over time create marginal gains in order to reduce the chance of injury. At Spectre Performance, we have periodised our programme in such a way to ensure optimal peak performance for the start of selection, so no matter what course or timeframe you’re on, this programme remains specific to your personal situation.
The structure of our programme is user-friendly and accessible via our mobile app eliminating the need for you to think about your daily training routine. This allows you to focus entirely on your training without the risk of overtraining or burnout. Having completed and successfully passed all the courses for which we develop programmes for, at Spectre Performance, we understand the potential intimidation associated with this endeavour. Therefore, eliminate the uncertainty and allow us to use our experience and expertise to navigate you through this process.
Do not miss out on this opportunity to take your physical abilities to the next level and achieve your goal of becoming a Pathfinder.

Our Programme
The duration of this training programme is a 15-week macro cycle that has been broken down into 3 main mesocycles. This programme has been specifically designed to build upon the key elements and demands of PF selection. During this 15-week programme you can expect to improve on strength, aerobic endurance/capacity, lactate threshold, strength endurance and hills specific training, all of which use the most researched and successful methods of training. You can also expect to conduct many of the specific tests that you will face during the selection process to ensure you have had the correct exposure to them enabling you to confidently go into selection, knowing that these are fully in the bag. It additionally focuses on injury prevention and recovery to ensure the greater physiological demands of preparing for PF selection can be achieved. The overall aim is to create resilient, robust and injury free individuals that are fully prepared, both physically and mentally.
What To Expect Each Week:
Each session will begin with a specific warm up phase lasting approximately 15 minutes. The focus of the warm up is to prepare the mind and body for the demands of training. It will consist of an activation phase, mobilisation and potentiation to ensure adequate preparation.
The 1%ers:
These are key to injury prevention and strengthening the isolated elements that can be overlooked. They will consist of areas which have been highlighted as a weakness during the screening process i.e. core stability, plyometrics, balance and proprioception. These are all key components of the bigger picture, allowing the body to function more efficiently during the demands of training.
Multiple Strength Sessions:
A solid strength base will allow for a more efficient transition to areas such as strength endurance and hills specific work. Maintaining a good strength foundation will reduce the risk of injuries when using multiple planes of movement i.e. carrying heavy loads over rough terrain, running etc.
Aerobic and Lactate Threshold Sessions:
Improvement in these two areas will allow us to be fully prepared for the loaded marches that you will face throughout your journey to becoming an elite soldier.
Strength Endurance Sessions:
These will help you become much more efficient and remain strong whilst under fatigue which is a key element if you want to be successful and last the duration of the course.
Mobility and 1%ers:
These are vital and must be executed efficiently and consistently as this will be the difference in how well your body will be prepared and be able to sustain itself throughout the process to ensure you get to the finish line.
